We got our first day back in Nov 2019 – so hadn’t really had any nice hiking time with him, so were delighted to travel upwards in Tipperary and have a nice wander around a hiking route we’d never been to before. Great to have some nice new memories. What would you share @louise-ward?

I see some replies in which I have see a lot of things in common. I guess that watching movies, for example, is something that we made this last year.

In my case, I love cooking, my favourite hobby! I even started a cooking channel in Youtube (but In Spanish). I tried the same that you Maria, making natural wax candles, but the result was not best, and the cost was higger than actually buy candles at the supermarket, so bad deal… hahaha

I am both a secondary school teacher (Philosophy, Religion and English) and a college lecturer (Sociology and Philosophy).
I am lucky to have a wonderful fiancée, who is also a teacher but am looking to meet some new friends (male or female) who have an interest in film, history, travel and music.

I plan to attend a lot of concerts in Ireland and festivals around Europe once this lockdown has ended, so it would be ideal to meet some people who are also open to jumping on a plane to go and listen to some rock music!

My name’s Lara and I’m from Switzerland. I’ve stumbled across this site in my search to learn more about Ireland and to get sort of a starting point, as I am currently looking for an employment in Dublin – it’s always been my dream to work abroad and now I’m finally in the position where I can actually begin to tackle it.

I studied translations (English and French into German) and am currently trying to learn Dutch, Italian and Irish, though the focus clearly is on Dutch. I’m interested in basically everything – as long as it’s presented to me with joy and passion, I’m on board (except all things mathematical, I’m at total loss here…)

Thanks to my dad, I’ve had a fascination for the northern european countries ever since I can remember and have visited Dublin a couple of times in the past.

Despite being interested in many things, I don’t make contact with new people too easily so I’m hoping to find one or two people on this site.

I’m so excited I found this site! I currently live in Seattle, Washington, USA, but am planning to move to Ireland in the next few years and hope to make some friends before I arrive. I’m 45 years old but people mistake me for much younger. Single and no kids. My ancestors were originally from Ireland a long time ago and I feel in my heart a strong urge to ‘return home.’ I visited Ireland in 2011 and can’t wait to come back. I’m a final year psychology student and crisis line volunteer as well as a wife and mam to a preteen… So long story short I need to get out of the house lol. @hernameislalex Hi Alex and welcome! We have a Gatherings feature that we turned off due to Covid-19 but hopefully in the coming weeks we can add that again so you can post up coffee chats, shopping trips, or book club chats for people to attend.

While Ireland may be known as the land of a thousand welcomes, when it comes to making real strong friendships in adulthood, Ireland can be very cliquey. I couldn’t keep up with long series so I opt for short mini-series instead, mostly documentary like DFWC, Cooked, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Planet Earth, The Crown, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Midnight Diner..

Currently I’m watching Night On Earth.. Next on list is Ragnarok

I grew up on Marvel comics and used to travel to forbidden planet to spend my first jobs wages on numerous comics but I never ventured into anime, but my nephew loves them and took me to a couple of stores in Madrid and that was a real eye-opener to the world of anime. Just wondering if there’s a film/series you’d recommend to check out?

About 15 months ago I gave up drink and stuck with that and feeling all the better for it, but I’ve never tried to make a change in January. I have to agree with Liam on Prego Pizza in Clonmel, you can’t go wrong with that place. I have to say one of my favourite places for a good chipper is Miss Ellie’s. A must try if you’re passing through Clonmel, you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Howzit! I’m Nadine, originally from South Africa and have been here in Ireland for 9 months now. Living in beautiful bohemian Galway and loving this city! I’m a full time working singly mummy also currently training for an Ultra marathon in Donegal called the 7 sisters that I can’t wait to experience! I like this idea very much as still haven’t really made many friends here in Ireland and this seems like a cool way to do it!

So as it’s the weekend we’d love to know what’s your favourite takeaway to treat yourself to after a long week and shoutout the takeaway also, or do you prefer to cook a fakeaway at home instead 🙂

For me it would have to be a Prego Pizza in Clonmel (would recommend for any to drop in if you’re ever in the area), getting a 16″ ham, mushroom, sweetcorn and onion for just €9.50, or the odd pepperoni pizza from time to time!

Or Chinese wise I’d go to Mary 19 for Salt & Chilli Shredded Beef.

Recently we went to Italy, Romania and Bulgaria and loved every second of it, travel is such a great education for the children and the gain so much from these trips. Nothing like the start of a new year to try and plan ahead, especially a new decade and one with nice round numbers too. So I’d love to hear about your plans, goals and dreams for the year ahead.

For me, PLAN to have more fun, continue to build my business and look ahead rather than just at the projects in hand. GOALS to earn more than last year and create better work, stick a trip or two abroad in there. DREAM of being happier and more at peace with myself and to bring that into other people’s lives also. Also really looking forward to growing this website with @Louanne and seeing what it becomes and forever thinking of new features and ways to bring strangers closer together.

It only has 2 seasons but Marcella on Netflix is fantastic if your into crime drama. I’m in the middle of watching season 2. I’m a disaster with trying to get time to watch anything. Another one I loved was designated survivor aswell.
