Hi everyone, My name is Wisam. Originally I am from Syria, but spent a decade in Qatar and Dubai working before moving to Ireland 4 years ago. I am in my early 30s and it seems a bit hard to make friends these days, so I was like why not trying it here?!
I believe every good friendship starts with a simple “hello”, so here’s mine! 👋
Feel free to ping me for a walk, a drink, or even just a chat.Looking forward to make new friends ^_^

Sean, you came close to starting a spider farm. I accept spiders only in the form of Halloween decorations because they disgust me and I feel that there is something atavistic about this feeling. I am also fascinated by the world of animals. Interestingly, animals display behaviors that the general public calls typically human. For example, elephants bring flowers to the graves of their deceased relatives.
I generally like animals but my favorites are cats, raccoons, red pandas and foxes.

ParticipantHi I'm looking for a company to explore Ireland together. These can be short trips around Dublin as well as day trips to the farthest corners of Ireland. I like hiking, bike riding, kitesurfing and many other outdoor activities. Cities, mountains, coast… I'm flexible and open to explore everything so feel free to have your own ideas for destination. It will be also nice to share some coffee or food together 😉 I am off work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and these are the days I want to travel. Don't hesitate to ask for anything or just to get to know each other. Cheers folks 🙂

@burkie I have seen Dexter: New Blood, but I was not happy how it ended… It only reminded me about the season finale of the GOT and my frustration ;( I love original Dexter though.February 21, 2022 at 4:16 am #10191In reply to: Lets introduce ourselves!

Hi Kelly,
I’m Nuraini. I just joined this Bffinder thing today, after moping around the house for a few years. I’m 43-ish :). I’ve been here since 1999, from Malaysia. I came here as a University Student, fell in love with a classmate, married, stayed, had babies, worked, quit work, and now am looking for new things to do. A new chapter of life shall we say.
Your note resonates with me, in terms of the trying to make a beautiful home (I’m not too good at it though, it always seems to stay a mess, with 6 people to clean up after, maybe it’s not my fault), growing vegetables, crafting and animals. We have two pet rabbits and a few fish and a turtle. I have tried being self-sufficient but don’t think I’d be able to survive off my produces alone… at all. I like walking too, hiking not so much but will do it for health reasons. I love yoga, even tho it tortures me afterwards, esp the planking/core muscle poses. I’m also more of a home bird. Even my work friends have commented on this. I’d only go out shopping if I have to. I’d make myself attend work dinners and all that but it is something that takes alot of effort from me. I know it’s something I have to work on, like building a stamina/tolerence for it. It’s a relief now that I don’t have to deal with people that much, but at the same time, loneliness does creep up.
Unfortunately, I’m in Limerick, so meeting up would be unlikely. This might be both a relief and a downer :).
I don’t know if I’d make a good friend, but I can try.
I’m sorry about your heart being broken. From what you said, was it recent? That’s simply horrible. But I’m not going to make this about him, so what can I do for you? What would you like to talk about?
I used to enjoy cooking but have lost the spirit for it recently. What kind of crafts do you do? I’m trying to learn watercolour at the moment, but since it’s only my first year at it, I have nothing good to show for it yet. I used to be into cardmaking and have drawers of stuff 😛 If you’re interested in any of those kind of stuff, maybe I could post some of my excess to you. I don’t know how to knit but my eldest daughter does. She’s the same age as yours. I am just learning how to sew and mend clothes at the moment and am so pleased that I can now rescue my jeans/denims rather than throw them away.
Alright, that’s all I can think of to say for now. I need to get cracking at the daily wiping and sweeping, else my house would have no chance at being beautiful :). Take care.
PS: What do you plant in your garden? I need help as a lot of my plants seem to be dying this year. I’m starting to wonder if there is something wrong with the soil.

Hey everybody, I’m Dearbháile, 28. From kildare originally but living in offaly now for almost 5 years with my husband and two dogs. Would love to meet people from the surrounding areas (or even further away).
I used to be a chef, and was then working as a nutrition teacher up until Covid. Now I’m back studying a MSc. Hope to hear from someone soon!August 2, 2021 at 8:54 pm #5922In reply to: Lets introduce ourselves!
AnonymousInactiveHey y’all,
I’m Sarah, 33 years old and originally from Germany but have previously lived in the US and Spain as well. I moved with my husband and our dog Chewy to the Cork area in 2020 (yep, great timing lol) for work and it has unfortunately been difficult to make new friends around here. I’m an easy-going person who likes to be active (I love hiking and yoga but I also like to try new activities). I also love food (cooking (as healthy as possible), baking, eating, you name it) or just having a pint at the pub is grand as well. I’m looking for some girlfriends to hang out with (whether that may be staying in or going out, doing active stuff or starting a hobby together, I’m down to whatever!). Would love to hear from like-minded ladies out there! Cheers, SarahJune 13, 2021 at 8:58 pm #4158In reply to: Lets introduce ourselves!
Hello everyone,
I’m Andy,
I am currently getting used to the fact that I will be soon be able to visit friends indoors as I was vacinated on Friday. By the way, the one reaction I had to the vaccine shot was a dry mouth for an hour. Weird but could have been worse.

I was originally drawn to the island because of ancestors near Killarney but lately have explored Cork City multiple times because of other ancestors. I day dream of moving there someday and would love to hear from any other Americans that have done so.

Good afternoon, everyone!
My name’s Lara and I’m from Switzerland. I’ve stumbled across this site in my search to learn more about Ireland and to get sort of a starting point, as I am currently looking for an employment in Dublin – it’s always been my dream to work abroad and now I’m finally in the position where I can actually begin to tackle it.
I studied translations (English and French into German) and am currently trying to learn Dutch, Italian and Irish, though the focus clearly is on Dutch. I’m interested in basically everything – as long as it’s presented to me with joy and passion, I’m on board (except all things mathematical, I’m at total loss here…)
Thanks to my dad, I’ve had a fascination for the northern european countries ever since I can remember and have visited Dublin a couple of times in the past.
Despite being interested in many things, I don’t make contact with new people too easily so I’m hoping to find one or two people on this site.
That’s it from me for now, and until soon!
Cheers,
LaraNovember 22, 2020 at 12:15 am #2274In reply to: Lets introduce ourselves!
Hi Everyone!
I’m so excited I found this site! I currently live in Seattle, Washington, USA, but am planning to move to Ireland in the next few years and hope to make some friends before I arrive. I’m 45 years old but people mistake me for much younger. Single and no kids. My ancestors were originally from Ireland a long time ago and I feel in my heart a strong urge to ‘return home.’ I visited Ireland in 2011 and can’t wait to come back. I’m currently studying the Irish language and hope someday to be fluent and live in a place where I can speak it every day to help keep the culture alive and growing.
I have lots of curiosity and enthusiasm about many things: music, photography, nature, contemplative spirituality, monasteries, history, travel, reading, psychology, bird watching, museums, architecture, long hikes, self-improvement, meditation. In my day job I provide tech support to librarians.
I’m a pretty quiet, introverted, easy-going person and hoping to make some deep friendships! Thanks and take care.

Hi there, I’m Niamh and I’m from Dublin (don’t hold it against me). I’m a final year psychology student and crisis line volunteer as well as a wife and mam to a preteen… So long story short I need to get out of the house lol. I gave up the drink 1.5 years ago and as a result more than a few friends have drifted apart. Would love to find others to meet for coffee, walks, etc (when restrictions are eased of course!).

Hi everyone,
This website is lovely! I’m Natalia, 34 years old. I’m from Argentina and have been in Dublin for 3 years. I am an engineer and environmentalist and work for an energy efficiency company here. I like everything to do with sustainability, animals, nature. I love books, movies, music, travelling, good veggie food, bakery. I’m in love with Ireland and it’s people, and would be good to find new friends when restrictions are not so strict 🙂

Hi, I am originally from Cork but now living in Tipperary. I only moved here last summer & Ihaven’t really got to know anyone here yet. This Covid lockdown isn’t helping. I fill my time with movies, podcasts & cooking. I hope to make some connections through this lovely platform. I have two dogs to keep me company.

@louanne Yes, “Don’t F*ck With Cats” is really good. It raised a hard question for us viewer to answer.
I couldn’t keep up with long series so I opt for short mini-series instead, mostly documentary like DFWC, Cooked, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Planet Earth, The Crown, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Midnight Diner..
Currently I’m watching Night On Earth.. Next on list is Ragnarok

Hello you beautiful people,
I’m Juliana, originally from Malaysia, have been living in Ireland for the last 16 years. I love travelling and outdoor activities, always willing to try new things to do but then I get bored pretty easily and move on to another to-do-thing.
..
…
….Sorry. What was I saying?
Oh yeah. I enjoy meeting new people, hanging out with delicious food and good story. I’m travelling to Central Asia in March for 2 weeks and always on a look out for ideas on places to visit.I also have weird sense of humor, it threw people off at the start, but I find inappropriate jokes could sometimes ease the mood.
Sometimes.

Hi everyone! So my name is Jon (33), currently live in the UK at the moment, however I’m looking to move to Galway as I’m in the process of writing a bid/proposal that will hopefully allow me to take over the operations of the air service that operates between the Aran Islands and the mainland. I originally wanted to join the military, however I wasn’t able to do so at the time due to my eyesight so I turned my attention to commercial aviation and have previously worked at Gatwick and Heathrow airports and also for a private jet firm (believe me, it’s not as glamorous as it sounds…!). Taken quite a bit of time off lately due to mental health issues, however I’m really excited about the prospects for the future and have high hopes of starting a new life in Ireland very soon.

I’m a full time working singly mummy also currently training for an Ultra marathon in Donegal called the 7 sisters that I can’t wait to experience! I like this idea very much as still haven’t really made many friends here in Ireland and this seems like a cool way to do it!
