Hi, I’m Shelagh and I’ve just joined this site today. I’m 42 and living in Kildare, (near Dublin) ,having recently moved back to Ireland after several years abroad. I’m married with two children. I like nature, reading, walking, yoga, travelling, art, good food… lots of things really! Moving back to Ireland during a pandemic coupled with working a shift pattern has made it harder to make new friends . Would love to meet some new female friends for a walk/chat/coffee.

How is everyone coping with the gyms being closes?
I used to train 4 times a week, love the gym experience, it’s so much more than just going there to lift weights or cardio, it’s a vibe, it’s the energy, it’s what it makes you feel inside…
I’ve tried at home workouts and did well for the first lockdown but I haven’t been able to motivate myself…it’s just not the same…
I hear gyms are opening on the 7th June…
Can’t come quick enough for me…
        Anyone else feel the same???

I am 26 and a irish traveller. I swear I’m not like what you see on TV ? any ways i don’t have any friends. I am married and stay at home mom. I’m more likely to delete this as I suffer from anxiety but here’s to trying. I understand the majority of ireland hate travellers but I am not bad just lonely.. also my username is my daughters

We got our first day back in Nov 2019 – so hadn’t really had any nice hiking time with him, so were delighted to travel upwards in Tipperary and have a nice wander around a hiking route we’d never been to before. Great to have some nice new memories. What would you share @louise-ward?

                Hi everyone!

I see some replies in which I have see a lot of things in common. I guess that watching movies, for example, is something that we made this last year.

In my case, I love cooking, my favourite hobby! I even started a cooking channel in Youtube (but In Spanish). I tried the same that you Maria, making natural wax candles, but the result was not best, and the cost was higger than actually buy candles at the supermarket, so bad deal… hahaha

I’m 25 and have lived in Ireland for the past 2.5 years, started my journey in Dublin where I did my master’s from UCD and then moved to the lovely town of Galway, finally settled down in cork now!
I love all kinds of outdoor activities, been sneaking out to west cork for the past few weeks during lockdown but hit me up if you want someone to binge watch a show/ anime or wanna go out for a cup of coffee!

                    Hi everyone,

My name is Andy. I am 29 and currently living in Louth (although I have just bought a house in Co. Meath and will move there next year once it has been built).

I am both a secondary school teacher (Philosophy, Religion and English) and a college lecturer (Sociology and Philosophy).
I am lucky to have a wonderful fiancée, who is also a teacher but am looking to meet some new friends (male or female) who have an interest in film, history, travel and music.

I plan to attend a lot of concerts in Ireland and festivals around Europe once this lockdown has ended, so it would be ideal to meet some people who are also open to jumping on a plane to go and listen to some rock music!

I was originally drawn to the island because of ancestors near Killarney but lately have explored Cork City multiple times because of other ancestors. I day dream of moving there someday and would love to hear from any other Americans that have done so.

                                  Good afternoon, everyone!

My name’s Lara and I’m from Switzerland. I’ve stumbled across this site in my search to learn more about Ireland and to get sort of a starting point, as I am currently looking for an employment in Dublin – it’s always been my dream to work abroad and now I’m finally in the position where I can actually begin to tackle it.

I studied translations (English and French into German) and am currently trying to learn Dutch, Italian and Irish, though the focus clearly is on Dutch. I’m interested in basically everything – as long as it’s presented to me with joy and passion, I’m on board (except all things mathematical, I’m at total loss here…)

Thanks to my dad, I’ve had a fascination for the northern european countries ever since I can remember and have visited Dublin a couple of times in the past.

Despite being interested in many things, I don’t make contact with new people too easily so I’m hoping to find one or two people on this site.

That’s it from me for now, and until soon!

                                  Cheers,
                                  Lara

                                    Hi Everyone!

I’m so excited I found this site! I currently live in Seattle, Washington, USA, but am planning to move to Ireland in the next few years and hope to make some friends before I arrive. I’m 45 years old but people mistake me for much younger. Single and no kids. My ancestors were originally from Ireland a long time ago and I feel in my heart a strong urge to ‘return home.’ I visited Ireland in 2011 and can’t wait to come back. I’m currently studying the Irish language and hope someday to be fluent and live in a place where I can speak it every day to help keep the culture alive and growing.

I have lots of curiosity and enthusiasm about many things: music, photography, nature, contemplative spirituality, monasteries, history, travel, reading, psychology, bird watching, museums, architecture, long hikes, self-improvement, meditation. In my day job I provide tech support to librarians.

I’m a pretty quiet, introverted, easy-going person and hoping to make some deep friendships! Thanks and take care.

I can’t always take my camera as I developed rheumatoid arthritis last year, it’s all over but my hands and wrists and shoulders can get really bad so I can’t use them much. Here are some of my favourites from the last 12 months. I particularly love animal photography, landscapes, and street photography. This one is in Morocco, Marrakesh, such a vibrant colourful place, on the surface it seems like absolute mayhem, but look a little closer and you see that it’s not at all.

The edit button doesn’t seem to work and I’ve no idea how to do anything on here. I’m not normally this ‘special’ I swear. I miss GirlCrew’s functionality. Feel free to msg if you like my profile and have figured this site out. Cheers. (Believe it or not I work in tech, this is embarassing, lol.)

I only moved here last summer & Ihaven’t really got to know anyone here yet. This Covid lockdown isn’t helping. I fill my time with movies, podcasts & cooking. I hope to make some connections through this lovely platform. I have two dogs to keep me company.

While Ireland may be known as the land of a thousand welcomes, when it comes to making real strong friendships in adulthood, Ireland can be very cliquey. If you move town or country it can be extremely difficult to find lasting friendships here. This site deserves lots of publicity and I really hope people make use of it. The very best of luck ?☘️

I have to say one of my favourite places for a good chipper is Miss Ellie’s. A must try if you’re passing through Clonmel, you won’t be disappointed 🙂

I’m Juliana, originally from Malaysia, have been living in Ireland for the last 16 years. I love travelling and outdoor activities, always willing to try new things to do but then I get bored pretty easily and move on to another to-do-thing.
                                                                                                    ..

Oh yeah. I enjoy meeting new people, hanging out with delicious food and good story. I’m travelling to Central Asia in March for 2 weeks and always on a look out for ideas on places to visit.

I also have weird sense of humor, it threw people off at the start, but I find inappropriate jokes could sometimes ease the mood.

                                                                                                    Sometimes.

So my name is Jon (33), currently live in the UK at the moment, however I’m looking to move to Galway as I’m in the process of writing a bid/proposal that will hopefully allow me to take over the operations of the air service that operates between the Aran Islands and the mainland. I originally wanted to join the military, however I wasn’t able to do so at the time due to my eyesight so I turned my attention to commercial aviation and have previously worked at Gatwick and Heathrow airports and also for a private jet firm (believe me, it’s not as glamorous as it sounds…!). Taken quite a bit of time off lately due to mental health issues, however I’m really excited about the prospects for the future and have high hopes of starting a new life in Ireland very soon.

I’ve been working for myself for the past 9 years. I’ve been lucky to have worked with numerous clients from large corporate companies to small local businesses. And in my spare time I love to work on side projects and always strive to learn new things, currently trying to read more and aiming to learn Polish & get through a few books in 2020.

So I’d love to hear about your plans, goals and dreams for the year ahead.

For me, PLAN to have more fun, continue to build my business and look ahead rather than just at the projects in hand. GOALS to earn more than last year and create better work, stick a trip or two abroad in there. DREAM of being happier and more at peace with myself and to bring that into other people’s lives also. Also really looking forward to growing this website with @Louanne and seeing what it becomes and forever thinking of new features and ways to bring strangers closer together.

Really deals with how people can manipulate their way into your life. Also loving Atypical as it deals with life with a ASD child and I’m the parent of a 15 ASD boy so I find it really easy to relate to but it would be also good just for a general watch as the story lines are good

I’m in the middle of watching season 2. I’m a disaster with trying to get time to watch anything. Another one I loved was designated survivor aswell.

I’m not an Amazon fan normally but I couldn’t resist this show. The costumes alone were beautiful, the acting sublime. It’s funny and poignant. I loved it.
