We tend to look at the universe through the limitations of our own perception, language, culture and experience. We call something “real” because we can observe it, measure it or understand it within the framework we have created.
But reality itself does not need our permission to exist.
Gravity did not begin to exist when Newton described it. The stars did not become real when we discovered them. And the universe does not have to conform to the way the human mind would like it to behave.
This leads to a question I find much more interesting than simply asking what we believe to be true:
Is truth something we discover about reality — or something we construct from the limits of our own perception?
I’ve been exploring this idea through philosophy, physics and the nature of reality, and it has become a major theme in my writing.
I’d be genuinely interested to hear what other people think.
Can we ever see reality as it actually is, rather than merely seeing the version of it that our minds allow us to see?

      Hi there!
Hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out because I’ll be moving to Ireland soon for research, and I thought it’d be nice to connect with some local people beforehand. I am from india and will come from Saudi Arabia for my PhD.

I’d love to get a casual feel for life in Ireland—culture, daily vibes, fun stuff to do, or just random chats. Nothing formal, just hoping to have a friendly conversation and get to know folks a bit before I arrive!

No pressure at all—just thought I’d say hi.

      Cheers,

Hi I’m Nia, another 40-something Irish lady who has moved back to Ireland after some decades abroad and now find myself wondering “yikes, how on earth do we make new friends at our age!?”. I live in the south-side of Dublin, and work in the creative industries.

My spouse and our daughter have both settled into their new Dublin life really well, I’m just lagging behind a little bit because I work from home a lot. So I’d love to push myself to be more sociable, I’m not a drinker but love getting out for a cuppa, or a pastry!

I love pop music, vegetarian food, reading trashy novels, comedy, video games, all that good stuff! I would consider myself a loyal and supportive friend, I’m still close with my old college pals from back in the day. All new friends welcome, best wishes

        -Nia x

Sean, you came close to starting a spider farm. I accept spiders only in the form of Halloween decorations because they disgust me and I feel that there is something atavistic about this feeling. I am also fascinated by the world of animals. Interestingly, animals display behaviors that the general public calls typically human. For example, elephants bring flowers to the graves of their deceased relatives.

I generally like animals but my favorites are cats, raccoons, red pandas and foxes.
